project 2: furnitecture

The objective of Project 2 is to expand the interpretation of one self and heighten the awareness about the interaction between space and body, allowing us to research and explore the role of reasoning in shaping form and spaceIn a group of 6, a member is chosen to become the user of the furnitecture. All design components and criteria are based on the chosen group member’s body dimensions and the occupation he/she potrays. This involves designing a confined and abstract space that possesses multi-functional furniture. Our group consists of Maychen, Cherilyn, Melvyn,Kyla,Leo and Zoe Low. Our chosen user is Melvyn Poh.

Reflection

Through this project, we learn further on translating a user personalities, storyline and activities s into a structure, a 'furnitecture '. we also learn about human proportion, anthromometrics and ergonometrics. We learn how to put order to space, shaping the space, and create different kinds of activity to the space available. The most interesting part is that we get a chance to do a full scale model, and installation of a full scale model made out of cardboards.
