methods of documentation and measured drawings

Consisting of 19 people and our tutor, my team and I went to Alor Setar, Kedah to do this project. Our site is the traditional houses in Kedah which is the Surau and the Rumah Bumbung Lima
This is a short semester that lasts for 2 to 3 months, aims to provide a foundation and understanding for us to develop the principles of building preservation and conservation by recording it in three documentation methods; measured drawings, written documentation and photographic documentation, photobook and report. In groups of 14 to 20, as a group, we document the building historically and architecturally significant buildings in the form of as-built drawings. Fieldworks were conducted to create complemented with a report that explains about the background, history, concept, style construction technics and ornamentation of the building.

Reflection
This project is an interesting and a memorable experience to all of us as we get the experience and feel of doing field work at different area. We learnt on different ways to conduct accurate measurements and understand the cultural attributes of a built environment. We were able to work in a big group and communicate well with each other to produce work.
