Project 1 : Architectural portfolio
As a ‘Curator’ of your own projects, you are required to reconcile your projects within the programme or works outside of your academic programme (must be related to architecture) to represent your personal direction and design approach.
Objectives of Project The objectives of this project are as follow:
• To develop the student’s ability to understand and exercise discernment in the selection process of materials to be included in their portfolio.
• To introduce and discuss various approaches for the presentation of works in the format of a portfolio.
• To introduce proficiencies and skills required in the production and design of a personal portfolio.
Task – Methodology Project Selection is to reconcile your projects of all streams within the programme (architecture design studios, technology and building environment studies, history and cultural studies, communication and Architectural Portfolio (GRA60203) 2 | Page professional studies, electives) or works outside of your academic programme (must be related to architecture) and select the best FOUR projects / works to represent your personal direction inconjunction with your Personal Design Statement by using a few key images or diagrams for each project. You are to select a most suitable format for your portfolio (smallest A5 (min. 8 pages per project); largest A3). Be creative with your format, as they don’t have to be exact A5, A4 or A3 format. You are encouraged to customize your format: cut, fold…etc. Before deciding your format, you do need to consider all the projects’ scale, type of drawing, graphics…etc. You are to create a draft layout for all the projects in the selected format (Min. 4 pages to a max. of 8 pages per project, excluding cover and content pages for a typical A4 size format). You are also required to sketch an initial packaging idea/concept in ONE A4.
